The privately-run school, believed to be the world's oldest, is processing enrolments now with the first classes beginning in just three months.
Esmod Australia director of studies Katrina Skinner said the college, which has converted a former industrial space in Surry Hills to house its new campus, would offer a three-year Australian qualification with graduates awarded an international diploma. Exchange programs will also be available.
The Short Street campus will also house exhibits from the renown Darnell Collection, which spans 200 years of fashion history, including gowns by Dior, Givenchy and Versace.
State Development Minister Ian Macdonald said the college would provide a welcome addition to Sydney's fashion education infrastructure.
The New South Wales government, through the Department of State and Regional Development, would support the school through marketing activities such as the hosting of presentations and tours of the campus during trade show Fashion Exposed, he said.
Established in 1841 Esmod has 21 schools across 14 countries and boasts graduates such as For more see the next issue of Ragtrader, on sale January 16.
