GOLD COAST: Organisers of the inaugural trade showcase Business GC Swim 2010 say the event is likely to make a return again next year.

Event coordinator and director of Business GC's Fashion Incubator, Donna Caley, said many of the Gold Coast swim labels that participated in the March 2 -3 event had written orders during the fair.

“We've received only positive feedback and all the designers have expressed their desire to see the event continue next year,” Caley said.

Owner of Capriosca Swimwear Marcia Pilkington was pleased with the results her plus-sized label achieved at the event.

“... A store I have been trying to target for two years now has said they definitely want to see me now,” Pilkington said.

“I will definitely get some orders as a direct result of the event,” she added.

Business GC Swim 2010 was organised and funded by the economic development unit of Gold Coast City Council, Business GC. The event was initiated in the wake of the collapse in late 2009 of IMG's Sanctuary Cove Swim Fashion Week and was designed to boost the business of Gold Coast-based swimwear companies.

The 12 swimwear labels that participated in the inaugural trade showcase were Atlantis, Capriosca Swimwear, Finch Swimwear, Kulu Swimwear, Larimar, Lisa Blue, Maneater Swimwear, Glamorous Life by Joanne Rahn, Qupid, Riot, StarBlu and White Sands.
