Despite announcing it will withdraw the flagship brand from New Zealand  by August and “rebuild its online capability”, plans are afoot to extend this service to a global audience. Sussan, which is part of The Sussan Group, also comprising Sportsgirl and Suzanne Grae, launched the first phase of its online strategy in December - but online shopping is only available in Australia.Sussan spokesman Richard Peters said its aim is to have completed the international online shopping facility by the middle of next year.

“It’s vital to keep up with the evolving needs of our customers and clearly an online presence is very important. Initial feedback and use of the site has been very encouraging.”

Under the restructure, by August this year six of the struggling Sussan stores will close in New Zealand and nine will be rebranded under its sister brand, Suzanne Grae, which is showing ‘growth potential’. This will see the number of Suzanne Grae stores in New Zealand increase from 11 to 20. Sussan online currently offers free shipping to Australian customers who spend more than $150 online, but returns are free.
