NATIONAL: Trend forecasting agency Stylesignal has again ramped up its digital media offer.
The London-based agency, founded by Australian expatriates Geoff Watts and Julia Fowler, has made its entire online programme available to users of the Apple iPad. This includes trend forecasting reports, catwalk and trade show coverage, news, research and collaborative tools for fashion design teams.
Also on offer will be its recently released Trend Science software platform, which automatically analyses opinions on trends and fashion brands as they develop through social media platforms such as Twitter. Results are broken down into a range of graphs and ranking systems.
Managing director Watts said the iPad will further revolutionise the industry, allowing users to view trend information on a more interactive platform. Viewers can pinch to zoom on garments, touch to see a palette based on industry referenced colours, or flick from street-style photos to catwalk images.
Business partner Fowler described it as a cost-effective, "everlasting trend book".
"In the past, fashion designers spent thousands each season updating trend books with looks, colours and swatches which quickly go out of date - but with...the iPad you can have this at your design table, constantly updated in a brilliant package."
She said the high-quality IPS display has the same "colour acuity and wide viewing angle" of high-end photographic displays, making it more accurate in viewing swatches, photographs and designs for commercial use.
