MELBOURNE: Eight independent Australian and New Zealand fashion labels including Akira, Toni Maticevski and Zambesi will feature in a new exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Called Together Alone: Australian and New Zealand Fashion, the exhibition will span works from the last decade, with over 40 pieces on display from the NVG Collection and key loans.
It is designed to highlight the dramatic style and inspiration of these individual labels.
Other labels featured will be Australian brands MaterialByProduct and Romance Was Born and New Zealand brands Doris de Pont, Nom*D and World.
Key pieces include Toni Maticevski's classic Dali Goddess evening dress and the colourful men's Sanderson suit from World.
The exhibition will run at the Myer Fashion and Textiles Gallery at The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, Federation Square from October 1 to April 18, 2010.
