MELBOURNE: Nadia Foti has put the city of Darwin on the fashion map.
The former Charles Darwin University (CDU) student has been named National Student of The Year by the Textile Institute of Melbourne.
Foti studied clothing and production at CDU before moving to Melbourne to take up a diploma in fashion and design at Box Hill TAFE. This is the 24-year-old's second award in less than a year, having walked away with the Australasian Young Designer of the Year Wool Award in late 2008.
The award meant Foti received a $10,500 Handbury Scholarship to study at Milan's prestigious fashion school Instituto Marangoni. She will head to the institute during summer 2001 with a clear ambition in mind.
"It's my dream to work for Giorgio Armani," she said.
