Stomp receives stamp of NY cool
Melbourne fashion wholesaler Stomp Fashion has scored the Australasian license for two New York labels; lifestyle brand Members Only and footwear brand Eighty Twenty.
Stomp sales and brand manager Anna Kirby said the brands would play a key role in Stomp's strategy "to be a major source of super cool and cutting edge fashion for the niche boutique market, with a "one stop shop" approach."
Stomp is the exclusive Australian distributor for a range of labels including women's streetwear label Gentle Fawn, men's streetwear label Green Apple Tree and sports fashion label To Die For Clothing, all of which come from the US.
"Until now we haven't had a footwear brand but Eighty Twenty is a perfect fit with our other labels. The kind of girl that wears Gentle Fawn clothing would certainly wear Eighty Twenty shoes," said Kirby.
"As for Members Only, it's legendary. It was huge in the 70s and 80s and is now "back from the dead". The hippest kids that know what is up have been looking for it for years," she continued.
Stomp - which is owned by record company Stomp Entertainment - is currently showing lifestyle brand Members Only and women's footwear brand Eighty Twenty to retailers.
The Members Only range of men and women's jackets will be available through selected retailers including fashion forward chain General Pants Co and niche boutiques from next March, at price points from $130 to $600.
The brand's launch will utilize Stomp Fashion's link to Stomp Entertainment to host Members Only parties in Melbourne and Sydney. These will coincide with the release of a Members Only music CD featuring cutting edge bands from the Stomp stable.
The Eighty Twenty range - comprising 80s influenced women's sneakers priced from $130 to $160 - will be piloted this November, with a major drop to selected fashion forward boutiques scheduled for next February/March.
Both labels would be distributed to around 20 niche stores nationally, Kirby said.
"We sell to the best cutting edge stores in Australia. We don't want to sell to just anyone," she added.
