NATIONAL: The trend for high street retailers to collaborate with established designers on unique collections is not over yet.
Sportsgirl has announced a line up of multiple designer collaborations for 2010, with the first collection to land in selected stores and online in February. The initial range has been co-designed with the duo behind The Cassette Society label, Katie Boyd and Tania Rikards.
Dubbed 'Halcyon Days', the 20 piece capsule collection is infused with The Cassette Society's signature 1980s styling. Key pieces include faux fur jackets, lurex-panelled knitwear with sequin detailing, and acid washed denim. Accessories are also included in the range.
Prices for Sportsgirl's first capsule collection for 2010 will range from $80 to $250.
Additional collaborative ranges for the young womenswear retailer will follow, with Alpha 60 for Sportsgirl landing in store in March, and Kim Ellery for Sportsgirl available from May.
Each collection is part of the retailer's 'Sportsgirls Like' program, which aims to support up-and-coming Australian designers. Other labels that have previously created exclusive collections for Sportsgirl include Arabella Ramsey, Filli & Grane, Life With Bird and State of Georgia.
