MELBOURNE: Sportsgirl has surged further into online technology with the launch of a 3D augmented reality function on its website.
The young women’s retailer has created a Virtual Style Studio, in which customers with a web cam on their computer can activate lookbook images in a 3D format.
To operate the function, customers need to obtain a free, printed issue of the latest Sportsgirl magazine from a Sportsgirl store. On the back of the magazine is a ‘marker’ which needs to be held in view of a webcam.
The latest summer 2010 collection images will then ‘come to life’ in 3D.
Sportsgirl recently launched an online mobile phone shopping application as part of its technology overhaul.
