MELBOURNE: High street womenswear chain Sportsgirl has heeded the calls of curvy customers.

The retailer has extended its sizing program in a bid to cater to more shoppers. The new program means size 16 will be available across all fashion offerings - not just select collections.

It is understood the initiative is part of the retailers' ongoing work with The Butterfly Foundation, an organisation which supports Australians who suffer from eating disorders and their carers.

In other Sportsgirl news, the retailer has unveiled a specially branded accessory store in Sydney's Queen Victoria Building (QVB).

The opening follows the recent launch of its first accessory stand-alone store in Melbourne Airport's Virgin Terminal. Dubbed 'Sg' the sites specialise in scarves, bags, jewellery, body products and footwear.
