MELBOURNE: The International Fibre Centre (IFC) will host a half-day seminar in Melbourne on October 10, which will explore new approaches to skills development in the textile industry. The seminar, which will be staged at the Carlton Crest Hotel, will cover the latest eLearning products designed for textile businesses and the IFC's new developments in training programs for fibre technology, dyeing and wool. ITALY: Italian fashion eyewear company Police have launched a range of men's and women's watches in Australia. Available from David Jones and selected jewellery stores nationally, the timepiece collection includes three unique ranges dubbed Escape, Navy and Glamour Square. Retail price points for the collection start at $149 and go up to $399.

Tahiti hits town
SYDNEY: An exhibition showcasing an innovative range of Tahitian fashion and accessories will be staged at the Sheraton Hotel, Sydney from September 19 to 21. Approximately 17 companies will exhibit at the event, which will showcase a range of pearl and diamond jewellery, textiles, costume jewellery, clothing, cosmetics and hair care products. Sweet dreams
NEW ZEALAND: Kiwi designer Trelise Cooper has joined forces with catalogue company EziBuy to launch a range of women's sleepwear. The Handle With Care collection comprises of six key pieces, including nighties, bath robes, pyjamas and camisole tops, all of which feature a stylish range of feminine floral prints. Mentorship prize
SYDNEY: FashionAssassin's Alex Zabotto will award a six month mentorship to one lucky fashion designer participating in the new fashion event F.Rock, which will hit Sydney's northern beaches on September 15 to 16. Designed to give an up-and-coming designer the opportunity to further develop their label, the mentorship program will consist of an organised appointment once a week for six months. Zabotto will select the winning designer from a group of 16 young hopefuls who will showcase a range of high street fashion, vintage couture and swimwear and accessories.

Under the Spotlight
SYDNEY: Spotlight stores nationally have issued a product recall notice on its children's bathrobe range after the nightwear failed mandatory product safety standards issued under the Trade Practices Act. The Australian Competition and Consumer Corporation (ACCC) launched an investigation into the range after it was found the company breached the standard requiring all children's nightwear items to be labelled with fire safety labelling that corresponds with the proven tested behaviour of the fabric from which the garment is made.
