NEW ZEALAND: Silkbody's attempts to expand into Europe have received a welcome boost after the Dunedin company secured an account with German retail group Globetrotter.

The label, which specialises in high performance and travel apparel made from silk, will be sold in several of the brand's retail sites - including its flagship store in Cologne.

Label co-founder Emily Cooper, who runs the brand with her father David, said the move would see Silkbody lined up alongside some of the biggest brands in the retail space.

"If there's one store where you want to be in Europe, it's Globetrotter. Not only for the sales but also for the credibility it gives the brand in the marketplace," Cooper said.

Silkbody is currently sold across a range of boutiques in Australia - including The Wilderness Shop (NSW), Peak Fifteen (TAS), Paddy Pallin(ACT), Lightweight Traveller (QLD) and Begong Equipment (VIC).

The seven-year-old label is also available across selected stores in Austria, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
