SYDNEY: Donna Sgro is set to begin purveying her unique brand of fashion to Japanese consumers following a deal with one of Tokyo's leading stores.
The young designer will sell her latest range - dubbed Octopus's Garden - at the exclusive Isetan department store in Tokyo from June 10. The collection would form part of the Shinmai Creator's Project exhibition and sales area on the first floor, a spokesperson confirmed.
"This is a very exciting sales development for Donna Sgro and production is currently underway for the first release of Octopus's Garden."
The move follows the young designer's recent participation in the first ever Shinmai Creator's Project show at Japan Fashion Week (JFW). One of five designers selected worldwide to take part in the talent-finding event, Sgro's Octopus's Garden was "enthusiastically received".
JFW organisers have invited Sgro to show again next season.
Meanwhile, closer to home Sgro has confirmed her first ever participation at The Finders Keepers autumn winter 2009 market, for which a limited release of colourways and selected styles from the Octopus's Garden range will be produced.
The markets will be held at Sydney's Carriage Works on May 15 from 6.00 to 10.00 pm and on May 16 from 12.00 pm to 10.00 pm.
