Australian fashion label Sass & Bide has cemented its plan to attack the New Zealand retail market.
The Sydney-headquartered brand has registered a new company, Sass & Bide Retail (NZ), with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the New Zealand Companies Office.
Sass & Bide will open its first stand-alone site at Ponsonby Road in Auckland later this year, and commenced advertising for the position of store manager and casual retail assistants through local recruitment services late last month.
While Sass & Bide marketing manager Jacqueline Perrett declined to comment on whether any additional stores will roll out across the market, the brand now has 14 confirmed sites throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Sass & Bide founders Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton were forced to sell a major stake in their company last year as a condition of a $1.5 million loan. David Briskin and Daniel Besen, who built accessory brand Mimco into a $40 million business before selling it off to private equity firm, are now partners in the company.
