Sabatini weaves new category
The woven range will be released as a capsule collection twice a year and will complement the usual Sabatini range by offering a lighter option for the hot summer months in fabrics such as silk, linen and cotton.
The brand, which caters for women aged 25 to 50-plus, will offer the initial woven component in 10 different styles and a range of prints and tonal colours such as white, black, caramel and ink. Dresses will feature prominently, but the range will also include a selection of skirts, tops and pants and will retail from $159 to $599.
Sabatini creative director Margie Milich said the launch of a lighter woven component was the natural next step for growth of the Sabatini label.
“We launched their woven component to expand the summer range and as Sabatini is a knitwear label we felt that it was the obvious way to grow the business in a hot climate,” she said.
“As Sabatini’s summer collections are over 70 styles, having a 10-piece woven component is very small, but has been created to cover the avenues that cannot be translated into knitwear. We will test this capsule for this season and then launch on a bigger scale next summer.
“However, we will be promoting the new woven styles by featuring them in our new season lookbook and campaign as well as product placement in leading magazines.”
Sabatini also recently launched its first e-boutique and will feature a range of past top-selling “Sabatini favourites” and specific online styles, exclusively on the brand’s website.
Milich said the e-boutique and the addition of a woven component to the Sabatini offering work together to make Sabatini a more comprehensive collection .
“The woven component adds an extra element and creates the opportunity for our clients to multi-sell to their customers and the e-boutique and e-commerce is the way of the future. By offering an exclusive online range we are able to support our retail division and not get left behind by our competitors.”
