SYDNEY: Akira Isogawa's head office this morning refused to confirm or deny speculation the designer is on the brink of defecting from David Jones to Myer.
Suggestions the designer may transfer his business from current department store stockist David Jones to rival Myer took flight in the wake of Myer's annual spring/summer showing yesterday (August 5). Isogawa was reportedly seen in discussions with key Myer personnel at the event.
While Isogawa's office declined to comment on the matter this morning, an acknowledgement a statement would be made once “details are finalised” suggests the designer is indeed investigating a department store change.
David Jones has been home to Akira apparel since 1995. The label also operates four independent boutiques across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
