NATIONAL: David Jones, Westfield and Chanel are among the industry heavyweights that will attend a briefing next week for the inaugural Vogue Fashion's Night Out.
The retailers will gather to discuss the activities and promotions planned for the consumer shopping event, scheduled for Thursday September 9, 2010. To be held in Sydney's CBD shopping precinct, Fashion's Night Out aims to increase sales and traffic for inner-city retailers.
David Jones, Myer, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Westfield are among those that will attend the briefing . Organisers confirmed “all of the key retail centres, department stores and designer boutiques” from Sydney's Pitt and Castlereagh Streets will also participate in Fashion's Night Out.
Key features of the consumer event will include extended trading hours and in-store events such as fashion shows. The event will be supported by a marketing spend totalling more than $1 million, including an outdoor media campaign and display flags throughout Sydney's CBD.
Sydney's Fashion's Night Out 2010 is being organised by Australian Vogue publisher News Magazines with support from the City of Sydney and leading retailers. News Magazines group publisher of lifestyle titles, Mark Kelly, said Australian Vogue was “excited” to be part of the international initiative.
“Our aim is to celebrate fashion and support the Australian retail industry by putting fun back into shopping,” Kelly said.
Fashion's Night Out was first staged in 2009 to support retailers and designers during the global financial crisis. The event was organised by international Vogue publisher Condé Naste and over 13 countries participated in the event.
In 2010, 16 of the world's fashion capitals will participate in Fashion's Night Out, including New York, London, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Shanghai and Sydney.
