SYDNEY: High-end womenswear designer Jayson Brunsdon is already reaping the benefits of a planned store opening at Westfield Bondi Junction.
The shopping giant has signed on as a major sponsor for his resort 2009/10 collection show at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.
The ready-to-wear collection was scheduled to hit the runway at Cargo Hall on April 26. Early indications suggested the range would ease back from the super luxurious aesthetic Brunsdon previewed last year.
"It's about charming simplicity, an easy pragmatic glamour and an appreciation of suburban ordinariness," Brunsdon said in a statement, adding that tropical light weight Australian Merino Wool from Woolmark would also feature in a collection. "Barbeques, poolside parties, shirtdresses, shorts, shirts, shorts, sundresses."
"There's a little 'Revolutionary Road' in this collection, a hunt of Hitchcockian subversive intrigue in the suburbs."
The designer's Westfield Bondi Junction store was scheduled to open next month. Other fashion players scheduled to launch at the shopping complex included footwear brand Steve Madden (May), menswear brand Oxford and luxury brand Chanel (June), along with womenswear retailer Witchery and European couture label Louis Vuitton (July).
