NATIONAL: Emerging South African designer Leigh Schubert is among the first wave of international players headed to Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW).
Launched in 2002, Shcubert's eponymous womenswear label was stocked across all major cities in South Africa, with her diffusion line Scout distributed through value stores Big Blue.
Schubert was known for producing trend-driven garments with contrasting fabrics such as soft chiffon laces, metallic coated linens and cut-out patent leather accents.
The brand's entry into the Australian market would be coordinated through Bondi-based management firm Euphonious. It was understood Schubert would be the firm's first fashion client with most accounts comprised of international models, dancers and entertainers.
Swedish denim brand Cheap Monday, which was set to launch its first Australian pop-up store next month, was also scheduled to appear at RAFW.
RAFW spring/summer 2009/10 would run from April 27 to May 1 at Sydney's Overseas Passenger Terminal.
