SYDNEY: A new industry partnership between Raffles College of Design and Commerce and a major fashion chain should see opportunities open up for the graduates.
The Sydney-based school has forged a link with Fast Future Brands, which runs 128 stores nationally for the Valley Girl and TEMT labels.
It will see the two organisations show mutual support, in the form of endorsement, mentoring, internship opportunities and more. A similar situation exists between the college and Australian designer label Willow.
Fast Future Brands has to date taken on a number of the college’s students as interns, who complete 200-hours of experience for their degree. It currently employs five Raffles College graduates as designers.
Fast Future Brands’ human resources manager Soroya Baghdassar said the company wished to formalise its relationship with the college, due to the strong work ethic of the graduates.
“We’ve found, through the people we already employ and the interns we take on, that they are both highly skilled and capable of working in a fast-paced environment,” she said. “We are a forward moving company and we feel through our relationship with Raffles we’ve found a perfect match with students who feel the same and can show it.”
