SYDNEY: Fashion student Jong Min (Gabriel) Lee will embark on a two month internship with Akira Isogowa after winning Raffles's top fashion graduate award.

The young student took home the prize for best Major Student Project at the design college's end of year parade. Lee's collection comprised three evening and two cocktail dresses, with a heavy use of organza.

Isogowa, who was on hand to present the award, said he was very impressed with the graduate show and hoped to teach Lee the realities of the trade, as well as "inspire him to pursue his vision".

It is the second prize for Lee, a South Korean national, who also won the award for Best Collection at the Aquafina Pure Fashion awards earlier in December. The graduate said that although he would like to start his own label in time, his immediate goal is to head to London for further study.

The Raffles end of year parade showcases the final year works from students studying a Bachelor of Design and majoring in fashion. The theme for the 2009 show was 'Elemental Forces' and the parade featured garments ranging from couture to swimwear to knitwear.
