Designer Arthur Georgopoulos said the label, which currently operates only one store in Sydney, has received keen interest from a large manufacturing company which intends to take the brand global.

“I’m just about to finalise an agreement with a Bangladesh-based manufacturing company. This company produces for large fashion brands such as Zara, H&M and Esprit, and they want to invest in opening stores with my brand in America and South-East Asia,” he said.

Georgopoulos said that while the expansion plan is still in the formative stages, he expects the first international Provocator store to launch in Los Angeles as early as April/May 2012, followed by an aggressive retail roll-out of 100 stores across Asia. Hong Kong, Malaysia and India will be the initial target locations in Asia, with the first batch of stores expected to open within the next year.

Provocator will also add a bespoke service to its Sydney store this month, which will allow customers to tailor their denim orders online and in-store. The custom-made jeans will be crafted individually by Georgopoulos, with a turn over of finishing between three to four weeks.

Provocator is currently stocked in 160 stores nationally, in addition to one stand-alone store in Oxford Street, Sydney.
