Unlike her American counterparts, Delta Goodrem has never used sex to sell.
So when the Australian singer released her Delta by anabella lingerie line in 2002, she was surprised to find that some fans found it too hot to handle. Now, in a bid to cater for those who have yet to break into their first training bra, Goodrem is releasing a pyjama line specifically catered for the tween market.
In what is now her eighth collaboration with Australian fashion entrepreneur, Bruno Schiavi, Goodrem will debut the line through BIG W stores in December.
Schiavi, whose stable of brands include MensFIT, The Priscilla Presley Collection and more recently Jackie, said Goodrem had an "enormous" amount of input into the new brand.
"She really wanted to do something for her nine, ten, eleven, twelve year old fans who would come to the lingerie promotions but couldn't buy one of her bras. She's kept the designs fun, colourful but not kiddish."
The small capsule collection, introduced just in time for Christmas, is comprised of two sleepwear sets; butterfly and unicorn. The butterfly pack features a blue and white halter and brief set while the unicorn includes a black and silver singlet and brief set. Priced at $20, the line is made from cotton elastane and is exclusive to BIG W.
Already working with Goodrem on the next autumn/winter 2007 collection, Schiavi said BIG W would continue to remain as the brand's preferred stockist of choice.
"We have a great relationship with BIG W and really, it's a good match because it's right in our customer demographic. It's where people who would buy the Delta lines like to shop."
Schiavi also confirmed that he would continue to pursue ongoing collaborations with Goodrem.
"This is our eighth collection with Delta which just shows how well she's performing out there. The whole theme behind it is that luxury can and should be affordable."
