MELBOURNE: The proprietors of Veronica Textiles "will consider all offers" as part of efforts to sell the business after 30 years of family ownership.

Veronica Textiles national sales manager Margaret Evans revealed the business has been on the market for the past two months.

Though she declined to nominate what sell price the owners - her four children - are hoping to achieve, Margaret said company director Jaime Evans was currently in talks with “a couple” of interested parties.

It is the "diminishing support" for local manufacturing by both local governments and businesses that has prompted the family's decision to sell.

“It is increasingly difficult to justify remaining in the industry,” Jaime conceded.

“Competition from countries with very low labour and compliance costs, such as China, has put enormous pricing pressures on local manufacture.”

The Evans family has opted to manage the sale of the business themselves.

Current clients of Veronica Textiles include Voyager, Baku, aussieBum and Anthea Crawford. The company also exports to Canada, the US and Japan.

Past clients have included Speedo, Billabong and Seafolly.
