SYDNEY: A new photographic exhibition at Westfield Bondi Junction will officially launch the centre's spring/summer 2006/07 fashion season. Produced by Sydney fashion photographer, Robert Rosen, the collection will be displayed on lightboxes throughout the centre from August 30 to September 15. Titled, Fashion Focus, the series includes behind-the-scenes photography from Australian Fashion Week with designers such as Zimmerman, Wayne Cooper, Leona Edmiston and Alannah Hill.

SYDNEY: A new search engine to be launched in October is aimed at promoting special deals and clearance promotions for local retailers. Called salenearyou.com, the engine will allow shoppers to access information on special promotions in and around their suburb. The subject of more than $1 million worth of investment, the website is already negotiating with a range of small and large businesses. Launching in October, the service will cost businesses $25 per month, per store for a listing and content on sale items.

SYDNEY: Fashion Group International has joined with industry association TGIA to host a once-only presentation on the future of wearable technology. The event, scheduled for August 29, will be held at the NSW Trade and Investment Centre and feature three guest speakers. Professor Jane McCann from the University of Wales will outline the current state of research and the expected market for smart tiles while the Managing Director of DPK Australia, Stephen Brender, will discuss his experience with technology and textiles. The Executive Director of the Council of Textile and Fashion Industries of Australia Ashley Van Kreiken will also make a presentation on the broader trends in textile, clothing and design developments both nationally and internationally. NATIONAL: A new fashion marketing and wholesale agency, Ku-türe, is setting its sights on representing up-and-coming Australian designers. The brainchild of Caroline Turner, the agency is also aiming to provide young designers with a wholesale service. A graduate of East Sydney TAFE, Turner has worked underneath Collette Dinnigan, Leona Edmiston and as a retail events and visual merchandising co-ordinator for MAC Cosmetics.
