NATIONAL: Listed wholesale group Pacific Brands has joined the growing tide of Australian fashion businesses donating product to assist the victims of the Victorian bushfires.
The group's footwear arm has donated 250 pairs of its practical shoes, including Grosby school shoes, Stubbies, Dunlop workboots and Volleys, to Gippsland charity Lifeline to be donated to families affected by the bushfires.
The company joins others including Myer, David Jones, Kmart, Westfield, Woolworths, Bettina Liano and Fashion Group International of Sydney in assisting the victims of the horrific fires with each donating product, money or both.
As previously reported on Ragtrader Online, non-profit organisation Fashion Group International has launched a clothing and footwear appeal to retailers and wholesalers across Australia.
Myer has announced its own appeal program, with the aim of raising $1 million for charity organisation The Salvation Army while rival David Jones has pledged $500,000 worth of its gift cards to the Australian Red Cross and will also donate profits for Thursday, February 12 to the organisation's bushfire program.
Other major retailers have pledgedcash donations. According to a post on fashion blog Frockwriter, designer Bettina Liano has also donated $1000 of garments to the Salvation Army.
