WELLINGTON: Womenswear label Twenty-Seven Names has encountered another battle on its road to Air New Zealand Fashion Week (ANZFW).

Its Wellington-based designers Anjali Stewart and Rachel Easting have hit the fundraising trail as they struggle to raise money for a group show at the event in September.

The pair's balance sheet was scorched by the collapse of six retail clients in the wake of the global financial crisis. Stewart and Easting have hosted pop-up store sales and film screenings in a bid to generate capital but are still $6000 short of their total.

This followed a challenging year for the pair, who were forced to change their title from Love Lies Bleeding to Twenty-Seven Names after a trademark claim from the US. An American-based company gained international copyright of the name in 2008, despite Stewart and Easting having traded as Love Lies Bleeding across Australia and New Zealand for over two years.

ANZFW will be held the week commencing 21 September, 2009.
