Australian fashion entrepreneur Hareth Tayem is taking on the international market.
Four months since the introduction of his online menswear store, maleorderonly.com, the former model-cum-publicist has officially launched the shopping service in the US.
Using San Francisco Fashion Week as a promotional platform, Tayem marked the new venture earlier this month with a fashion parade at Union Square.
Showcasing a selection of maleorderonly.com stock - including labels such as FashionAssassin, Niki Flynn Denim and Santos Wish - Tayem said the event was also aimed at propping the exposure of Australian fashion.
"The store gives the US market access to great and amazing fashion from Australia. [It is] a fashion show showcasing FashionAssassin, Niki Flynn Denim and Santos Wish for the first time to the US market."
Staging a media showing for all press and buyers before the August 18 parade, Tayem also enlisted the help of Grammy Award winning singer Lady Bug Mecca to garner extra media attention for the event.
While Tayem admitted it was a tough market to break, he said the website already boasted over 300 US-based members; even before the official launch. He also added that Spanish, UK and French consumers represented a large majority of its 600 worldwide members.
Hoping to build on this momentum, Tayem plans to introduce new services onto the website in October with an Ebay-style venture already in the works. Titled Mbay, the concept will allow members to trade apparel and accessories with one another.
"I have gathered that guys find it annoying going through plenty of cheap and tacky fashion that is available on EBAY so this will help guys with style sell their own designer gear to member that appreciate its value."
