GOLD COAST: Pam Easton and Lydia Pearson were rewarded for their ongoing contribution to Aussie style last night.

Taking to the stage at the NRA Australian Fashion Design Awards, the Brisbane duo took out the gong for fashion excellence. Meanwhile Brad Webb of Darb Bridal Couture took out the supreme award with a 1950s-themed gown featuring French lace, silk tulle and ribbon. Childrenswear label Birkini took out the rising star award.

Awards judge Gail Elliot described the night as a "world-class event", adding she was impressed with local designer Lisa Brown and was interested in stocking her designs.

"I usually stock people I find in LA or New York or London, but I really liked her dresses."

Based at the Gold Coast exhibition centre from April 1 to 8, the 28th NRA Australian Fashion Design Awards and Festival were designed to provide a platform for Australian designers, fashion students and manufacturers to showcase their work to a national audience.
