This is the first stage of a $180 million development of the centre, located ten kilometres from the city.
The new mall will be celebrated on Saturday with a live art exhibition by LA based artist Marquis Retna Lewis. Known for creating an eclectic mix of photography, graffiti and couture, he will design billboards which will later be displayed at the centre.
The launch will take the number of stores at Northland to 290. Stage two of the redevelopment will be completed later this year, with the total number of stores to reach 330. This will include a refurbished Myer and Kmart and a new Target store.
