Nookie’s true blue

Womenswear powerbrand Nookie has brought the majority of its manufacturing onshore, following recent changes to its operational structure.

The Sydney-headquartered label, which produces Nookie and Nookie Swim, was formerly represented by fashion distribution house Krites. Speaking at industry seminar Higher Learning last month, Nookie founder Nikki Sernack revealed Krites was also a private investor in the label during its formative years.

As part of its agreement with Krites, Nookie was required to produce its garments through its offshore suppliers in China. Sernack said the brand has been working its way back to Australian manufacturing since the end of Krites’ investment period, citing greater turnaround periods and quality control.
