The co-founder of fashion footwear brand Nine West, Vince Camuto, is gearing up to unleash his self-titled shoe and accessories label in Australia this year.
Camuto, who also operates fashion company Camuto Group, launched his eponymous New York shoe label in 2005 and has expanded his empire to 20 stores globally, with plans to double the count next year. As part of the brand’s expansion plans, the Vince Camuto footwear label will now also launch in Australia next year, with the debut collection to drop into selected Myer stores nationally from February 2012. The autumn/winter 2012 collection, priced from $179.95, will include a range of classic pumps, boots and peep toe styles and aims to target the contemporary woman with footwear that is accessible, fashion-forward, and innovative. Camuto also bolstered the global Vince Camuto range earlier this year with the addition of ready-to-wear and accessories, including jewellery, sunglasses and a fragrance, and said he also has plans to add a line of men’s shoes to the collection in 2012.
Canuto founded Nine West in 1978 and served as the Nine West Group’s creative director and, later, chief executive. He started Camuto Group in 2001 after the Nine West Group was sold, and now services over 4,500 global retailers and is the master licensee of brands such as Tory Burch, Jessica Simpson, Banana Republic, and Lucky Brand Jeans. In Australia, the Nine West store brand is now licensed to J.L. Footwear Pty Ltd.
