MELBOURNE: Textile designer Sev Ling Wong has taken her love of fashion to the streets, opening a new boutique in Melbourne's QV. The shop, titled Sevinha, features a mix of European labels including British statement maker Luella as well as Denmark's Bruuns Bazaar and Noa Noa, both of which Wong has on an exclusive basis. Other styles available in store include leather totes, suede belts, earrings, necklaces, hair accessories, quirky neck pieces, gloves, scarves and hosiery. Prices range from $25 for a Noa Noa garment to $2500 for a high-end Luella piece. Other stores in the QV stable include Cactus Jam International, Cactus, Christensen Copenhagen, Edge, Fox, Glue, Guess, Hype DC, Kam Otto, MNG, Mooks, Novo (women's shoes), Pamper Heiress, Platinum Menswear, Sevinha, Sidewalk Soul, Suits of Grace, TL Wood, Wayne Cooper and Zimmermann.
Kicking heels up
MELBOURNE: Footwear suppliers, wholesalers, retailers and agents have been asked to put their thinking caps on to nominate peers for the shoe industry's Hall of Fame. Staged as part of the sector's inaugural end of year 'Shoe Ball', organisers are considering extending the honour role to incorporate a representative from each state with several nominations already being submitted. SYDNEY: Surry Hills-based pair Adam Browne and Kristen Perich have launched a new talent agency specifically targeting the fashion and advertising sectors. Dubbed Six Wolves, the agency has sought to capitalise on overseas street casting trends which has been adopted by big name brands such as Lee and Wrangler. NEW ZEALAND: New and emerging Maori fashion designers will be afforded their chance to shine as part of Air New Zealand Fashion Week (ANZFW) later this year. An initiative of Ata Te Kanawa of Tumai magazine and Rex Turnball the Miromoda awards seek to foster the talent of emerging and established fashion designers who identify as being Maori. Entrants have four sections to choose from including Established Designer, Mittelmoda Award, Promotional T-Shirt Design Award and Haute Couture award with the winning entries showcased at ANZFW in September.
