GOLD COAST: The competition among fashion event organisers keeps heating up with the announcement of yet another swim trade show set to launch in 2011.
Swimshow Australia will makes its industry debut next year from February 24 to 26 on the Gold Coast. Organiser Luis Betancur revealed the new invitation-only event will be held annually in February to coincide with the southern hemisphere's peak swimwear buying season.
It is the third swim industry event to be unveiled in recent years following the launch of IMG's Sanctuary Cove Swim Fashion Week in 2009 and Gold Coast City Council's BusinessGC Swim in February this year.
Betancur said IMG, which also stages Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, was not associated with the launch of Swimshow Australia in any way.
“We are however, huge supporters of IMG, and hope to see Swim Fashion Week at Sanctuary Cove continue next year. The two events would be a great complement to each other,” Betancur said.
Betancur revealed Swimshow Australia will “pre-screen” all participating swim and resortwear labels, adding that 10 designers had registered interest in participating in the event over the past few days. He revealed the three day event will feature runway shows, on-site showrooms and off-site events.
Registrations for Swimshow Australia for buyers and media will open from August 2010.
