SYDNEY: OrotonGroup has welcomed a new non-executive director to its board.
The publicly listed accessories company has appointed Eddy Chieng to its board of directors effective from June 23.
Chieng is a director of three other companies beyond the OrotonGroup, namely Esthetics International Group (EIG) Berhad, Selangor Dredging Berhad and QL Resources Berhad. The three companies are listed on the Malaysian stock exchange.
In his role as executive chairman of EIG, Chieng runs a portfolio of 14 beauty brands and over 70 corporate owned outlets across Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand.
Chieng also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales and is a chartered accountant with membership of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
OrotonGroup's executive chairman Ross Lane welcomed the appointment.
“The board and I believe Mr Chieng's extensive and diverse business experience will be a considerable asset to the board,” Lane said.
OrotonGroup operates the Oroton and Polo Ralph Lauren brands. It is intended Chieng will stand for re-election as a director at the company's 2010 annual general meeting.
