The brand, which until now has offered only a basic range of Nautica product in Australia, will launch its men’s denim range initially via Myer, with womenswear to be introduced on a larger scale across seven David Jones outlets nationally. The first women’s collection, comprised of around 100 summer pieces, will include a variety of styles ranging from cotton dresses and shorts through to trench coats, trench dresses and knitwear. Wrap dresses and chambray dresses, stripes and nautical themes will also feature heavily throughout.
The styles will cater for weekend casual wear, work-wear and resort-wear and the label will release four collections per year – Spring, Summer, Fall and Holiday. Nautica brand manager Damien La Caze said the introduction of these new categories into the Australian market is part of larger brand strategy, which also includes the launch of a flagship store by December incorporating a broader range of womenswear, menswear and accessories. “Our brand strategy has always been to get to a point where we can present the full Nautica lifestyle offering in our market, and our strategy here is to build the women’s business through David Jones and our first flagship store which will open later this year,” he said. “The essence of the brand resonates extremely well with the Australian lifestyle, and combined with well-priced, great quality sportswear, we are confident Australian women will respond well to the collection.”
Price points for the Nautica womenswear collection will range from $79.95 for polos, to $129.95 for dresses and knitwear. Shirts will retail for approximately $119.95, and prices for pants, shorts and skirts will start at $109.95. Daniela Aroche
