NATIONAL: Myer is edging closer to the end of its 'turnaround phase', with a brand new point of sale (POS) system set to go live next month.

The national department store implemented its 50 month turnaround plan in mid-2006 with the aim of improving multiple arms of its business.

POS is among the last aspects of the business to undergo an overhaul, with Myer set to debut its new $100 million system in Myer Eastland (VIC) in June. The company plans to have the new POS system rolled out across all stores by the end of 2010.

Other aspects of Myer's turnaround program yet to be completed include efforts to reduce shrinkage and ongoing store refurbishments.

Myer hopes to complete its turnaround phase by the end of June 2010 and will then launch its 'growth phase'. Growth projects include the opening of new stores, a refining of its brand offer and an more integrated supply chain.
