NATIONAL: Myer has announced a comprehensive executive overhaul as part of efforts to drive its impending 'growth phase'.
Menswear will receive a new group business manager in the form of Adam Stapleton, former general manager of marketing. Stapleton will also manage cosmetics, homewares, electrical, entertainment and toys.
Existing Myer fashion and beauty manager Judy Coomber will become group business manager of women's fashion, taking control of women's and children's apparel as well as accessories, footwear and intimates.
The growing importance of online transactions to the department store is reflected in its creation of a new role, general manager of internet business. Former business manager of cosmetics, Rob Gregory, will assume the new position.
The department store has also established a new executive management team that will report directly to Myer CEO Bernie Brookes.
“This announcement reflects the conclusion of the major part of our turnaround phase, including the successful rollout of our new point of sales system and the near completion of our world-class Myer Melbourne store development,” said Brookes.
“We are now moving into an unprecedented period of growth and expansion for Myer and I am confident we now have the right team and leadership structure in place to take the company forward into the growth phase.”
Other appointments include John Hawker to the role of group general manager business development, where he will be responsible for fostering new brands and managing concessions.
Meanwhile John Amm will become general manager of global sourcing; Megan Foster will move from store development and design to become group general manager marketing; Jamima White has been appointed national sales promotion manager; and finally, former IT manager Timothy Clark will take on the role of group general manager property, store development and services.
Myer's management changes come in the wake of a recent executive reshuffle at rival department store David Jones. The latter's managerial changes were prompted by key resignations.
