MELBOURNE: Myer communication executives will no doubt be burning the midnight oil in the new year, following a company restructure which has sliced 20 per cent of marketing and creative staff.

Myer director of marketing and creative Paul Bonnici exited the business yesterday, along with 20 staff members from the division. CEO Bernie Brookes would now head up the team and confirmed Bonnici's position would not be replaced.

As a result of the restructure, national corporate affairs manager Mitch Catlin had been appointed general manager of communications and would oversee sponsorship, local area marketing, public relations, events, corporate affairs and internal communications.

Catlin's direct reports would include newly appointed national public relations manager Tanya Zwier, national events and sponsorship manager Dan Brown, national communications manager Sharlene Findlay and sponsorship and LAM manager Sean Cadd.

It is understood under private equity owners TPG, support staff at the department store had been cut by 20 per cent in the past two and a half years.
