NATIONAL: Luxury womenswear brand Josh Goot will exit the Myer stable, as the department store looks to grow its value-end offerings.
Myer director of apparel Judy Coomber confirmed the brand's two year tenure at the store will soon draw to a close. It is understood the decision was fuelled by Goot's pricing structure, with premium basics such as a jersey 'body con' dresses priced at up to $900.
"It's increasingly important in a tough economic climate, to offer the right product at the right price," Coomber said.
"Myer has gained market share over the past 12 months, in part due to our broad offer to our customers. As the 'new' Myer moves through its turnaround phase towards the growth phase, our metrics are in place to deliver strong results for the business, and that includes the right mix of international, national, proprietary and brands exclusive to Myer."
Josh Goot has a specially branded concept area in the department store's flagship site in Sydney.
The move confirms Myer's move towards value-driven product offerings, with Wayne Cooper's diffusion menswear line launching just last month. Priced from $50 to $295 for separates, the line will join a range of price-pointed designer collections offered by Myer including Hi There by Karen Walker, Wayne by Wayne Cooper and a diffusion range from eveningwear designer Toni Maticevski.
Myer says it will soon announce "major plans" to introduce more Australian and international brands to its stable.
