SYDNEY: Swimwear company Baku Australia is set to capitalise on its ten year anniversary, enlisting high-profile model Nicole Trunfio as the face of its spring/summer 2010/11 campaign.
The company is well positioned to reap the benefits of media attention surrounding Trunfio, who will replace Miranda Kerr as the lead in David Jones’ seasonal parade tomorrow and features heavily in the department store’s summer catalogue.
As part of Baku’s ten year celebrations, photographer Chris Colls shot the seasonal campaign featuring Trunfio in Hawaii earlier this year.
The brand was established in 1969 by John and Sue Bykerk and is now run by their children Dax and Tamara Bykerk. It also creates a sister label Ginja, pitched at a younger market.
It manufactures 90 per cent of its product in Australia, with digital printing key to the ranges. A variety of styles is offered, from full pieces to bikinis, with larger cup sizes key.
Baku Australia has 300 stockists nationally. It is also available in David Jones and on 19 e-commerce sites. In both Canada and The Netherlands it has around 100 stockists, as well as accounts across Europe, Asia, South Africa and New Zealand.
