MELBOURNE: Underwear label Mitch Dowd has created a new collection for men and women to raise awareness and funds for fertility research.

For men, a mix of underwear styles and colours are in the offer, with a printed gender symbol key to the look.

For women, a singlet top with shorts and a pyjama set with buttons for easy breastfeeding are in the mix. The range features soft colour tones of blue, grey, pink and white.

The styles for men are cut for comfort, based on research that shows loose fitting underwear with breathable materials may better for healthy sperm production.

Prices range from $19.95 to $49.95, with a portion of the proceeds going towards a fundraising campaign the company has created called Fashion for Fertility. It will hit 60 Myer stores nationally in November.

Ambassadors for the project are swimmer Michael Klim and his wife, model Lindy Klim, who appear in the marketing material.

The project is in conjuction with mineral supplement company Bayer Australia.
