Mini boom aims to strengthen brand's profile

Vibrant womenswear and formalwear label Boom Shankar has finally relented to customer pressure and produced offspring.
Having secured more than 200 stockists across Australia, the UK, Ireland and the US, the Noosaville-based brand is now seeking to broaden its following by launching into childrenswear.
Boom Shankar wholesale manager Erin Lickfold said the decision to tackle the new category came about following repeated requests for replicas of the adult clothing produced by the brand.
Because the grown-up version of the label is produced and manufactured in India, the new line has added increasing pressure to designer Dui Cameron's already hectic schedule with Cameron now forced to split her time creating, sourcing and designing materials for the two ranges during her regular trips abroad.
However, to help continue the brand's Indian-based theme - as well as cut down on time - many of the clothes included in the Baby Boom collection are made from the same traditional and antique cotton textiles as the women's and formalwear ranges, Lickfold said.
The new line, appropriately dubbed Baby Boom, features wrap skirts, Spanish-striped skirt and top sets, shirred dresses in "retro style" and Hawaiian fabrics.
Retailing at price points of between $20 and $30, the range is
currently available is sizes one to six with more designs in the making.
