NATIONAL: Mimco has ventured into another new category of accessories, following its foray into footwear 18-months ago.

The fashion driven accessories brand has created a collection of 24 sunglasses, set to hit its stores in July. Twelve unique styles have been created, each in two colour options.

Creative director Cathryn Wills said sunglasses were a natural progression for the label.

“After Mimco’s expansion into footwear 18-months ago, we decided to ask our customers what they wanted next from Mimco and sunglasses were top of the list,” she said.

The sunglasses will protect from sun radiation in accordance to Australian and European regulations and safety requirements. They carry a minimum of a category two out of four rating, which means they are suitable for medium brightness. Frames are made from acetates and metals and prices range from $150 to $300.

The sunglasses will add to the brand’s range of handbags, wallets, shoes, hair accessories, hats, scarves, gloves, watches and hosiery.

Mimco was founded in 1996 by Amanda Briskin, before it was purchased by Witchery Holdings in 2007. It has boutiques nationally, as well as in New Zealand, the UK and Singapore.
