MELBOURNE: Menswear retailer CM's Fashion is being targeted by the federal workplace watchdog for allegedly underpaying two workers almost $7000.

The Fair Work Ombudsman has launched a prosecution against Tovek Pty Ltd, which operates five CM's Fashion stores across Melbourne. Tovek sole director Uri Burke is also being prosecuted by the agency.

Documents lodged in the Melbourne's Magistrates Court allege Tovek underpaid a former merchandise manager more than $6500 in leave and personal/carer's leave entitlements.

A former retail assistant was also believed to have been underpaid $362 in casual hourly rates and Sunday rates over 2008.

The maximum potential penalty per breach of workplace law is $33,000 for Tovek and $6600 for Burke.

The agency this week announced twenty teenage girls in Adelaide had been reimbursed a total of $10,000 after an investigation found they were underpaid. The girls were former and current employees of an all-female clothing retailer.
