NATIONAL: Australian eveningwear designer Toni Maticevski has wrapped up his American adventure with a catwalk show at New York Fashion Week.
Representatives from high-profile fashion publications American Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, The Wall Street Journal, Elle, Grazia and Interview magazine joined department store buyers from Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales and Henri Bendel at the showcase yesterday.
Maticevski's collection included a range of luxurious trims including feathers, fur, embellishments, woven fringes and lace. Soft eveningwear looks - such as a sheer silk organza petal dress in purple and cream hues - were offset with eclectic tribal/ethnic styles layered in heavy fringing and dark sequined trims.
The collection will be available for viewing at Factory PR in New York, Maticevski's showroom representative in the US.
The parade followed a celebrity coup for Maticevski at the 2009 Grammy Awards, where singer Sheryl Crow and socialite Kim Kardashian wore his designs. Singers Duffy and Paula Abdul also picked garments from the designer at The Grammy Style Studio, a celebrity gift suite at Smashbox Studios in West Hollywood.
