The fledging event, which debuted in Sydney earlier this year, will launch in Melbourne from August 28-30, and aims to cater for buyers in search of higher-end fashion, showcasing a hand-picked selection of exclusive international and Australian brands.

In a recent development, the AEC has also announced the addition of various installations and events designed specifically for the fair, including seminars by renowned stylist Phillip Boon, and an exclusive exhibition created by local designer Jenny Bannister.

Boon, who currently works for photographic boutique Miss Bossy Boots and also co-hosts live fashion chat show “Fashion Torque”, will share his knowledge on the fashion industry via a range of  30-60 minute talks held daily at Premiere.
Boon will be joined at the trade fair by his “Fashion Torque” co-host Bannister, who has cracked her personal archives open to create an exclusive exhibition titled “The Wild One”, which will showcase a selection of her works from the 1970’s to the present.

Bannister, who launched her eponymous label Jenny Bannister Fashion in Melbourne in 1976, has previously had her designs displayed at museums, including the National Gallery of Victoria, but will contribute a selection of unseen pieces for the Premiere event.

AEC, which has progressively added a range of features to Premiere over the past few months, said the contributions by Boon and Bannister will further enhance the buying experience and also benefit exhibitors at the fair.

“The Fashion Distributors of Australia and Australian Exhibitions and Conferences believe that live experiences will enhance the buying environment of Premiere and make attending more pleasurable, so they have worked together to create interesting environments and experiences for the visitors and exhibitors,” said associate producer of Premiere, Juliet Wilson.

“We are currently expecting 2,500 trade visitors to attend Premiere, and we have secured 140 labels so far, with 63 labels showing for the first time, including James Jeans, Natasha Gan, Joie, Freepeople, Crea Concept, and Seven London, and [these additions] to the event will inspire repeat visitation, and build a reputation befitting Premiere.”

As reported previously in Ragtrader, AEC also recently announced other additions to the Premiere event, including an “Open Studios” workshop, an exclusive “Fashion Library”, and a “Speakeasy Cinema” concept, where leading fashion designers will share their top fashion moments in film.

Premiere clients will also have access to a Guinot pop-up spa and exhibitions from design labels Colleen Burke and Melissa Shoes.
