The brand, which celebrated its 100th store opening in Australia earlier this year, has confirmed it will launch its first American Lorna Jane store in California by February 2012, with a further four stores to follow within the year. Founder Lorna Jane Clarkson said the move to branch out into the US was based on market demand and is part of a larger strategy for international expansion.

“Earlier this year Lorna Jane opened its first store in South Africa, so the US move is part of a wider global expansion plan,” she said.  “Lorna Jane has been growing significantly over the last couple of years within Australia and our enquiries from overseas customers has also increased. We have realised that there is a demand for the product outside of Australia and we are ready to take the first steps to satisfying that demand.”

Clarkson also confirmed that all Lorna Jane American outlets will be privately owned with a focus on branded locations, although there may be some opportunity for stockists as the rollout develops. The debut US store, which will directly follow the brand image of the Australian stores, will also house the full Lorna Jane collection, including the latest “LJ Black range” released as part of the 100th store celebration in Australia. Clarkson revealed that the Lorna Jane brand will also continue to expand in Australia, with plans to open new stores and boost the label's online operations.
