PERTH: Fashion designer Liz Davenport has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her services to Australia's fashion industry and the community.
The Perth-based designer received the award as part of Australia Day 2011 celebrations.
Davenport has worked for over 35 years as a local fashion designer, manufacturer and retailer. Her eponymous label caters to mature women and her product range includes travelwear, occasionwear and resortwear.
There are currently 10 Liz Davenport stores nationwide and Davenport's daughters, Katie and Jane, are now part of the label's design team.
The OAM adds to numerous other awards Davenport has taken home over the years, including a Grand Award from the Fashion Industries of Australia and an Advance Australia Award from the Advance Australia Foundation.
