BYRON BAY: The designer behind swimwear label Lisa Blue has launched a Whale Tale Campaign to raise funds for whale conservation.
Designer Lisa Burke has created two whale charm bracelets in turquoise and silver, which will retail for $9.95 each. All money raised from the sale of the bracelets will be directed to the Australian Whale Conservation Society.
They will be sold on the Lisa Blue website, with more products scheduled to follow, possibly including a beach bag and a calender.
The initiative is in addition to the swimwear brand’s general contribution of 25 per cent of its profits to the cause.
Based in Byron Bay, the brand launched in 2009 with whale conservation at the core of its message. It recently a staged solo show during Miami Swim Fashion Week in the US. It has also taken part in Business GC Swim and Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.
The 2010/11 collection features the work of Aboriginal artist Rose Miller, with three key prints adapted for use on the swimwear styles. Art from the European renaissance period also features on a range of pieces.
The collection spans bikinis, one piece suits, tankinis, halter tops and various bottom styles, in a variety of colours and prints.
